Delivered to the Passivhaus Classic Standard, it will support residents by enabling them to enjoy high levels of winter and summer comfort, and very low energy bills.
Air quality will also be significantly higher, providing health benefits. The building envelope has been fully optimised for low heat loss, including careful design of windows and designing out of possible thermal bridges. The balconies, which are provided throughout, have been optimised to avoid thermal bridges as they attach to the structure.
The Beyond Carbon team worked closely with the architects and the contractor to ensure that this large, multi-residential scheme could deliver a robust Passivhaus performance, but at reasonable cost. There was a particular focus on buildability – avoiding complex details and rationalising design to ensure that the site personnel can deliver on the design intent.
