01 PEOPLE & PLANET
A climate and ecological emergency
Our company exists to respond urgently to the climate and ecological emergency. As well as our commitment to only work on built environment projects that meet the highest environmental standards, we also stand against greenwash and take seriously our responsibility to help with global reforestation and restoration. We have an ongoing commitment through the Trillion Trees programme to plant 10 high quality trees every month for every team member in our company. By the end of 2024, Beyond Carbon will have planted almost 2000 biodiversity-enhancing trees.
Alongside this we are building our business incentives to help our staff live out positive lives in a climate crisis. We are building out a package of benefits that actively help team members contribute to a better climate future.

EV-only salary sacrifice scheme
Slow holiday policy that gives team members up to two additional holiday days to take slower and lower carbon transport options rather than flying
10 trees planted by the business per month on behalf of each employee, restoring damaged forest environments and increasing biodiversity
Solar PV scheme (Summer 2024) - the business gives both a grant and a loan to help staff install solar PV and batteries to their houses, in partnership with Path Energy

We are proud to have pledged to #endgasnow. We are ready to meet the targets set by the latest IPCC report.
Carbon offsetting must be done in tandem with immediate and deep cuts to carbon emissions to tackle the climate crisis and the related ecological crisis. We stand against greenwash, and take seriously our responsibility to help with global reforestation and restoration. We have an ongoing commitment to plant 10 high quality trees every month for every team member in our company. We recommend the Trillion Trees programme as a robust provider of ecological restoration and tree planting.
